Write of Passage: Your Therapeutic Writing Program

Life is hard.
Write through to your next page.

Writing is expressive, therapeutic, healing, and offers you tremendous self-reflection. Your written words often illuminate what is not always evident to your conscious mind.
Write of Passage is a therapeutic writing program that is conducted over email. The process is simple:
1. You write when it is good for you.
2. You send me your writing when you are ready - up to 3 typed pages.
3. I provide feedback throughout your writing passage offering insight, prompts, and reflective witnessing.
Whether your write journal-style, memoir-style, poetry, or fictionalized pieces, your writing will held with the utmost sensitivity and respect.

1. It's a low-cost alternative to traditional therapy.
Many Passage Writers find this program more beneficial than meeting one-on-one. Writing allows time to think. process, and reflect - both on your own words and my responses. When given a writing limit - you cut down on avoidant dialogue or circumstantial parts of your story and share what really matters.

2. I have benefited tremendously from this process as a writer.
As a student of the Stanford Novel Writing Certificate program, I was shocked at how my fellow students saw me, named my struggles, and reflected my strengths. Amongst a group of 75 strangers, I have never felt so seen and understood as when they provided me feedback on my fictional writing samples. I have always said in therapy, "Our words give us away," and now I was on the receiving end of that sentiment!

3. Journaling is a unparalleled therapeutic, self-soothing, and self-reflective tool accessible to you at anytime.
Therapist are known for assigning journalling to their clients and I have been doing so for my entire career! Teaching self-soothing techniques is a mainstay in therapy and offers you support any time of day, any day of the week. You do not need to wait until your next therapy appointment or for when your best friend can call you back - writing allows you a space to express yourself to help you move through your feelings and your story.
Why I started the Write Of Passage Program

I love that I can choose to write at anytime and send it off to you and that you respond with wonderful insight and more questions to make me think!
For me personally, I think that information sinks in much more when I read it …. where as in talk therapy, I forget the conversations from week to week - these are on paper - I can look back at anytime and re-read your responses - and we can go deep into any topic.
I really feel like I am starting to see and understand myself more clearly!
